Specialized Activities Contracting is committed to quality, value, timeliness, and safety. We are here to serve our customers immediate and long term needs in plant maintenance, rigging consultation, and electromechanical services.
Our Core Values:
Safety
Our goal is to develop a culture of safety by behaviors resulting from a collective commitment by leaders and individuals to emphasize safety over any other goal set. We effectively ensure the protection of the staff, clients, and assets in your facility by constantly impressing upon our staff and clients the need to adopt proper safety procedures, and the adherence to those procedures every single time.
We don’t take our safety lightly, and we don’t expect your staff to take their safety lightly. We come fully bonded and insured, and we maintain an impeccable OSHA record because we know how much your safety standards mean to your facility. Our staff is responsible and will not undertake a project without double and triple-checking the safety of everyone involved.
We follow all fire watch and lockout/tag-out procedures to OSHA standard, and our staff is trained to check the service records for compliance on every piece of machinery they use on your job site. We maintain our safety records, and also provide a copy of the records to your maintenance department to guarantee your facility has no liability or lapse in safety records.
Integrity
Our company-wide commitment to conduct ourselves in a manner that is consistent with only the highest standards of integrity. This begins with keeping our word and admitting our mistakes. In everything we set forth to achieve, we believe keeping our reputation untattered is more important than any other reward, short or long term in nature.
We will not take shortcuts, or accept less than absolute satisfaction from our client in order to save a few dollars. We understand that by conducting ourselves with integrity, and making the right call, even when nobody’s watching, is what sets us apart from the rest of the contractors in the industry.
Measurement
Our staff track and measure innovation activities and evaluate results to determine what is driving productivity and what is hindering better results. Staff is encouraged to think critically in their everyday roles and to share their successes with colleagues and management to consistently remain devoted to finding a better way.
We have found that by providing our staff the tools to make modifications to outdated procedures and policies by listening to what currently works on-site instead of in theory, they’re not wasting valuable time and money to perform outdated or unwarranted steps to complete their tasks. By allowing our guidelines to be reviewed constantly in the field, we are encapsulating the best possible solutions to the routine snags that are encountered during maintenance and project management.
Accountability
Our staff is dedicated to their work and take full ownership of their duties. They focus on finding the right changes to make to processes for the right reasons. Our staff cares for the company and client base and always acts in the best interest of all parties involved.
We encourage our staff members to fully own their mistakes because there is no shame in learning by trial and error. We also encourage them to discuss the ways that don’t work with their fellow staff members so the knowledge can be shared, instead of several individuals making the same mistake. We’ve found that by acknowledging the minor hiccups that occur during the course of a job, we can prevent the same costly errors from happening more than once.
Excellence
We don’t rest on our accomplishments, rather we build on them in our personal and professional goals. We expect more of ourselves than our clients expect of us, and that consistently drives us to be better. We strive to exceed, rather than meet expectations in every single project we handle.
Although we may have successfully assisted you with your project today, that doesn’t entitle us to a break. We are always seeking better ways to serve our clients, and we welcome any suggestions that you may have in regards to what you would like to see routinely from us.
Our Company and Our Guiding Principles
Teamwork
We know that without smooth cohesion between our departments, we will not succeed. Every member of our staff brings a unique skill set to the table, and we ensure that they are recognized and celebrated for their contributions.
Our departments work hand in hand to develop communication and listening skills so that we’re not missing key elements on the job because we are unable to interact with other departments. Our technicians cross-train with one another so if they require assistance while on a job site, another technician there can jump in and assist, instead of being held back by lack of training in that particular area.
Diversity
We have always supported a discrimination-free environment, where your merit, not any other factor, decide your success.
We believe that everyone deserves an equal chance to prove their integrity and knowledge, regardless of their background. Our staff come from all walks of life, and we feel that this melting pot of personalities and backgrounds allows us to understand our clients more thoroughly because we aren’t limited to interaction with one select group of people.
Mobility
If the equipment in need of attention is in town at your local facility, or at your sister plant in Spokane, we want to be your first choice in plant maintenance, shutdown services, lifting and rigging, and electromechanical services.
In addition to our willingness to travel with only a two-hour notice required, we also have a very reasonable per diem and lodging rate, as we don’t believe in making a profit off of your satellite locations proximity to our home base. If you select us to travel to another of your facilities locations, we will do so at the lowest possible charge to you, because we know what an honor it is to be selected to service multiple locations for our clients.
